Monday, April 26, 2004 G like in the word graduate
Well students at Villanova University are protesting a move by the administration to have Big Bird speak at graduation. I can understand their point. Goodness, gracious people, these graduating students have sat through lectures on Keynesian economics, thermodynamic theory, English sonnet construction, the historical significance of Grover Cleveland's legislative agenda, and other such enlightening topics. These are to be some of the best products of our country's educational system, yet the administration at this school is going to put a guy on stage to attempt to inspire them? What is wrong with this picture? These students have inspired themselves enough to get through the rigor of the university, now they simply wish to have someone of good reputation stand before, commission them to a great calling, and get their respective lambskins. If this horrible atrocity is allowed to be carried forth we can fully expect to have Colby speaking at seminary graduations within the next five years. posted by Preachin Jesus | 4:54 PM | |
