Monday, October 11, 2004 Is he wired?No doubt if anyone has been watching the presidential debates they will have noticed some interesting things from both candidates. (Now please keep in mind I am not watching the live debates, though I watched part of a rebroadcast on CSPAN this weekend) After watching part of the second debate, I was prompted to do so after a friend emailed me with the following story, I am nearly convinced that President Bush has some sort of wireless, embedded monitor where a prompted can help him along with his answers. Read this article here! Now before you say, "Oh, PJ you've gone all Oliver Stone on us" I think there is compelling evidence that the President is wired for sound. Seeing as the President is not the most able rhetorician, though certainly a sound  leader, and in an age where the 6-second soundbyte is king it is completely understandable that major campaigns and media figures would have devices capable of this kind of process. Watch the debate again and notice the pauses that President Bush took during his replies in the townhall meeting. Also there is that nasty little "let me finish" line in the debate that a few have picked up on. Of course my detractors will say this kind of technology isn't feasible nor is it concealable. From Wired News An old story from geek.com Both of these stories deal with wireless, implanted cell phone devices. The practicality of these devices is indeed well founded and would allow someone like Karl Rove or a senior staffer to help the President out in a rough response. We can't expect the President to be an expert on everything now can we? Some of these questions he gets during the course of a day are so defined and the President only has so much time to spend on particular matters it is feasible that this kind of a device would be used. Now whether or not the President has used something like this is not knowable past the point of pure conjecture on my part.
